Finding a Leadership Book (+ Giveaway)

The manila envelope sat tightly in the mailbox. Reaching in to grab for it, like a scavenger on a treasure hunt, the outside parameters appeared to be the book. It seemed like a mistake to order a used older edition, but this message was like finding a precious jewel while on a search for rest and resetting.

Finding Rest

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1 NLT

The calm thump thump of a resting heart rate shifted into a strong thud thud. Sweat started to seep through an old, beat-up t-shirt.

Running at the end of the day, with the sun dipped behind the wetlands and the trees, paved way to the promise of new mercies that would begin the next morning. Continue reading

Days before my husband ended up in the emergency room, on June 7, 2014, I prayed,
“God if you want me to heed Hebrews 11:17-19 and keep writing, I need for you to strengthen my calling.”

When I’ve prayed this way before, God often weakens me before He strengthens me. (My name means fruitful, productive, to strengthen, resurrection.) So the result of my husband’s injury and surgery left me on the lower end of the seesaw. We were far away from family while I took care of him and our toddler. Continue reading
