Statistics aren’t just a number. Statistics are also a story. A story of who is, and has been affected, and to tell us how significant something needs to be in our lives.

According to the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association, 50 million is the number that represents the lives of Americans who are affected by chronic, and often hereditary, autoimmune conditions. These conditions cause the body’s immune system to attack healthy cells. Continue reading

It’s that time of the year when we often reflect on the past 12 months. For some of us, 2015 might include thinking ahead regarding our health and well-being. That being said, January is recognized as National Thyroid Awareness Month.

So what is the thyroid? It’s a small, butterfly-shaped gland located in the base of the neck just below the Adam’s apple. It’s responsible for producing hormones that regulate our metabolism, as well as other body organs.
